Muddled world of sports – wife carrying, rock paper scissors, tiddly winks, baseball, hockey, football

I know it’s been a few days, sorry. I know what it’s like going through this world of no sports. Sorry, no new sports. I have been washing my hands, and we all know that takes time. Yesterday, I sorted my garage, today, my bathroom drawers, tomorrow, I am organizing the rice by height.

For the first clip today, something a bit different. Unless of course this is something you train for. The UK Wife Carrying Championships. These are some true athletes and these men are my heroes. Imagine having to go home after dropping your wife in the mud, on her head.

This next one, is something we have all played, but, until recently I never knew there was actually a league for it, with true championships for big money in Las Vegas. I guess anything goes in Vegas.

Next, a game we have all played as kids. The World Championships have been going on since 1950. You probably got a set as a kid for Christmas along with the little fishing pole with the magnet on the end to catch the cardboard fish with the little clip on the snout.

If you are a baseball fan, you know of “Murderers Row”, the first six hitters in the NY Yankees lineup for the 1927 season. Here is batting practice with one third of this group. Two of the greatest players of all time, #3 Babe Ruth, and #4 Lou Gehrig.

Finally, some music. One of the greatest goalies to ever strap on the pads for the Toronto Maple Leafs was Johnny Bower. In 1965 he recorded a song for charity at Christmas time and here it is in it’s original form.

Ok, I couldn’t let you go without giving you a movie idea to watch. This is for the football (NFL) fans out there.  It’s about the Chicago Bears and stars James Caan and Billy Dee Williams as Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers. Get out the tissues for this one
